are you looking at me?: Invitation to Creative Short Film Contest

Hey guys, I wanna know your story! Submit your short films on the topic "Only Human" and the winner's work will be screened at VIFC during the Taiwanese Film Festival this year! WOOT!

Purpose

UBC Literature Etc. sincerely invites you to participate in our TWFF Creative Short Film Contest, a side event of the Third Taiwanese Film Festival (hereafter referred to as TWFF III). As an effort to promote creative short films and provide a platform for local artists to share their works, we welcome films of any language and setting, and there is no restriction on the filming equipments used. We accept short films from any genre such as drama, documentary, experimental, and animation. All nominated films will be screened during TWFF III at the Vancouver International Film Centre (VIFC), while the winning films will be given a special screening.

Topic

The topic for the TWFF III Creative Short Film Contest is "Only Human" in response to this year's theme. While the first annual TWFF led the audience onto a round-island trip exploring the beauties of Formosa, the second annual TWFF accompanied the audience to enjoy the taste of youth - its flight, adventure and realization. This year, the third annual TWFF "Only Human" will direct the audience into the lives of ordinary/everyday people and invite them to experience their struggles, disheartenment, happiness and tears. Within the cruel hands of fate and life's adversities, we see their unyielding resilience and also the frailty and strength of human hearts that are seemly contradictory yet incredibly real. No matter what our status, background, race, or culture, we all have one same entity - We are only human.

Criteria for the Short Film

Content: any creative film related to the topic "Only Human"
Length: under 10 minutes
No restriction on the filming equipments used.
We accept works from any genre such as drama, documentary, experimental, and animation

Contest Timeline

Deadline: Sunday Jun. 7, 2009
Online open voting: Jun. 8 ~ 17, 2009
Winning films announced on website: Thursday Jun. 18, 2009

Submission

Please have the short films in .avi or .mpeg file. We accept submissions by regular mail, upload to website (eg. YouSendIt, FTP...), or e-mail. Please contact us at TWFFcontest@ubcle.com for detail and include a short description of what your film is about.
